Explosion kills Pakistani security forces

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, Oct. 22 (UPI) -- A roadside blast hit a Pakistani security forces convoy in the Swat district of the troubled northwest region, killing several soldiers, sources told Geo TV.

The report said the attack occurred late Tuesday in Sirsinai village, with local sources claiming 13 bodies of the security personnel had been recovered. The report said an improvised explosive device was used in the attack.

The Pakistani military was quoted as saying five militants were killed in an exchange of gunfire with security forces after the blast.
