AMSTETTEN, Austria, Oct. 22 (UPI) -- An Austrian who says he raped and locked his daughter in a cellar for more than two decades blames his mother for his behavior, a psychiatrist's report says.

Josef Fritzl, 73, also told a forensic psychiatrist he had a predisposition as a sexual predator, The Guardian reported Wednesday.

"I was born to rape," Fritzl said. "Bearing that in mind I controlled myself for quite a long time. I could have behaved a lot worse than locking up my daughter."

Fritzl, who allegedly held his daughter Elisabeth in a cellar for 24 years, reportedly fathered seven children by her. One child died soon after birth.

The 130-page psychiatrist's report was on six lengthy interviews between psychiatrist Heidi Kastner and Fritzl.

Fritzl described himself as an "alibi child." Fritzl said his mother only had him to prove to her partner that she was not sterile. He also said during World War II bombing raids his mother would seek refuge in a bomb shelter while he was left alone in the family home.

Frizl is due to go on trial in the coming months.
