HENDERSON, Nev., Oct. 21 (UPI) -- Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, in an appearance Tuesday in Nevada, accused Barack Obama of discriminating against women.

Palin, accompanied by a handful of former Hillary Clinton supporters, said that the Democratic presidential nominee "couldn't bring himself to pick the woman who got 18 million votes in the primaries" when he chose a vice president, The Washington Post reported.

"The qualifications are there, but for some reason the promotion never comes," she said. "You've got to ask yourself, why wasn't Senator Hillary Clinton even vetted by the Obama campaign?"

Palin also charged that women in John McCain's campaign are paid more equally than those in the Obama campaign. An Obama aide acknowledged the disparity, telling the Post that McCain has more senior staff who are women.
