VALENCIA, Spain, Oct. 21 (UPI) -- The boat run by Women on Waves, a Dutch organization, where abortions are provided has left the Spanish port city of Valencia after spending four days in Spain.

The controversial organization was invited to Valencia by 33 Spanish groups. The vessel's presence led to discussion and some protests, Radio Netherlands reported Tuesday.

The network reported that a number of women had abortions on board the boat.

Abortions in Spain are only allowed if the pregnancy poses a serious threat to the mental or physical health

of the mother, if there are serious fetal malformations or if the pregnancy is the result of rape.
