SEATTLE, Oct. 20 (UPI) -- A 28-year-old Seattle man suspected in a string of bank robberies surrendered after seeing his photograph in news reports, FBI officials say.
"It's my understanding that he called 911 from a phone somewhere in Seattle," said FBI spokeswoman Robbie Burroughs.
The man's image, captured on a bank surveillance camera, was released to area newspapers and television stations, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported Monday. The suspect gave himself up Saturday night.
The suspect, whose name had not been released, is suspected in the robbery of seven banks and one pharmacy in the Seattle area between Sept. 12 and Oct. 11, Burroughs said.
