JERUSALEM, Oct. 19 (UPI) -- Israeli officials will go to the United States to complete corruption investigations allegedly involving Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, sources say.
Jerusalem District Attorney Eli Abarbanel and two investigators from the country's National Fraud Investigation Unit were set to go to New York Sunday to meet with FBI agents on their request that U.S. businessman Morris Talansky be granted immunity from U.S. prosecution, Ynetnews.com reported, citing unnamed sources.
Talansky is a key witness in one of the political corruption cases against Olmert.
Sources also told Ynetnews.com the Israeli team will question an official of a U.S. organization that invited Olmert on a fundraising trip, and will examine whether Olmert received double reimbursement for a plane ticket both from that organization and from another group.
