SHIRAHAMA, Japan, Oct. 16 (UPI) -- A Shirahama, Japan, amusement park said its 14-year-old female giant panda, Meimei, has died.

Officials with the Adventure World amusement park said Meimei's age was equivalent to about 50-years-old for a human, Kyodo News reported Thursday.

Meimei gave birth to two cubs in China before coming to Japan and later gave birth to eight more baby pandas, the officials said.
