Couple sentenced for sex on Dubai beach

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, Oct. 16 (UPI) -- A British couple has received a three-month jail sentence Thursday for engaging in sex on a Dubai beach last summer.

Judge Hamdi Mustafa Abu el-Khair also fined Michelle Palmer and Vince Acors $350 and ordered them deported from Dubai after serving their jail terms, The Times of London reported.

Neither defendant was in court for the verdict, which their lawyers said they would appeal.

The couple was arrested in July and charged with having sex outside marriage, public indecency and drunkenness.
