TIJUANA, Mexico, Oct. 15 (UPI) -- A 14-year-old girl was among the 10 latest reported victims of drug gang violence in and around Tijuana, Mexico, officials said.
The Baja California Attorney General's office said the girl, identified as Isabel Guzman Morales, was one of three teenagers shot to death Monday night in an impoverished Tijuana neighborhood wracked by a turf war between competing drug cartels, The San Diego Union-Tribune reported Wednesday.
Also slain in the city's Colonia Tres de Octubre neighborhood were Victor Alfonso Corona, 17, and Felipe Alejandro Prado Villela, 19. Another man was found dead nearby in what may have been a related killing, the newspaper said. In all, 10 new slayings were reported Tuesday.
The teens' deaths contributed to the spate of shootings in recent weeks, with authorities saying 113 people have been killed in Tijuana alone since Sept. 26. Most of the victims were linked to organized crime, they said.
