SALVADOR, Brazil, Oct. 15 (UPI) -- Brazilian authorities in the country's northeast say they discovered a cache of drugs being guarded by boa constrictors.

The police found more than 100 pounds of marijuana just outside Salvador being guarded by two of the large snakes, O Globo reported Wednesday.

The constrictors also reportedly were used to watch over a stash of guns and ammunition, police said.

Drug dealers in Brazil sometimes use exotic and dangerous animals to watch over their illicit merchandise and have even been suspected of feeding enemies to them.
