NEW YORK, Oct. 14 (UPI) -- A New York teenager died after falling six stories while tossing eggs at pedestrians from a rooftop, authorities say.
David Diaz, 19, whose right arm was in a sling due to a football injury, apparently lost his balance while attempting to climb a 3-foot ledge atop a building in the city's Harlem neighborhood and plunged into an alley between buildings about 1:25 a.m. Monday, the New York Post reported Tuesday.
Police said Diaz's fall was partially broken by an air conditioner in a third-story window and he was able to sit up after the drop but later died of head and body injuries at St. Luke's Hospital.
Friends of Diaz said he was attempting to climb the ledge because he was frightened by a knife-wielding victim of one of his egg tosses. Police said the man never made it to the roof of the building.
