Max Lindeman, 50, has forged a new life since his release from prison helping to pick judges for New York Democrats and working for the Center for Community Alternatives, the New York Post reported Monday.

Lindeman, released from prison in 1995 after serving more than 13 years, remains a registered Level 3 sex offender, the highest-risk category.

The Post says his biography on the center's Web site says he has served on the New York County Democratic Nomination Committee that selects candidates to run for state Supreme Court judgeships.

Lindeman joined the center's staff as a supervisor several months ago. He oversees programs for men, women and teens but his desk is in a Manhattan office that serves only women.
