DAMASCUS, Syria, Oct. 12 (UPI) -- Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas arrived in Damascus for a two-day state visit to Syria.

Abbas and President Bashar al-Assad are to meet Sunday to discuss security concerns and conditions in the Palestinian Authority, Director of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Office Mahmoud Al-Khaldi said.

Sources in Palestine said Abbas may ask Assad for help in ending the breach with Hamas and other factions in the Palestinian Authority, KUNA, the Kuwait News Agency, reported. However, they did not know if Abbas would meet Hamas leaders living in Syria.
