Witnesses say priest taught sex 'lessons'

CHICAGO, Oct. 11 (UPI) -- Two alleged victims of child sex abuse at the hands of a former Evanston, Ill., Jesuit priest maintain the clergyman shamed them into accepting sex "lessons."

Two men, now adults, testified Friday in U.S. District Court in Chicago that as 13- and 14-year-olds, the Rev. Donald McGuire admonished them they were "addicted to masturbation" and needed to be cured through sexually explicit "lessons," the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

The priest's "lessons" allegedly included looking with them at pornographic magazines, watching X-rated movies, having them masturbate in front of him and performing oral sex on them, the witnesses said.

McGuire, 78, once a well-known Jesuit leader in Chicago, has been charged with taking children across state lines to sexually abuse them as recently as 2003, the newspaper said.

McGuire's attorney, Stephen Komie, told jurors the witnesses were motivated by possible cash awards in future civil lawsuits against McGuire and the Jesuit order.
