BELGRADE, Serbia, Oct. 11 (UPI) -- The Serbian government expelled ambassadors from Montenegro and Macedonia after the two countries recognized Kosovo.

The two countries said they "remain committed to the further promotion of relations with Serbia," Deutsche Welle reported. Serbia is a major trading partner with both countries, once joined with it in Yugoslavia.

Kosovo, after several years of effective autonomy, declared independence from Serbia eight months ago. The United States and European Union countries have recognized its independence.
