LONDON, Oct. 10 (UPI) -- Sony has unveiled the world's thinnest television, which has a screen less than a quarter-inch thick.

The Sony Bravia ZX1, which as a 40-inch screen, will be available January for $5,950, The Daily Telegraph reported Friday.

Christian Brown, senior product manager at Bravia LCD, Sony UK, said "there is nothing else like this" television.

"It was conceived as a unique product, a true step forward, something that the most discerning consumer would instantly recognize as exclusive and desirable," Brown said. "Once you have seen it, other televisions no longer look the same."
