NORWALK, Ohio, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- Vandals in Ohio on Wednesday broke into a mausoleum, tampering with three crypts, officials said.
Authorities say they have no idea how many people were involved in the incident at Woodlawn Cemetery in Norwalk.
Broken into was the Chamberlain Mausoleum, the Norwalk Reflector reported Wednesday.
Norwalk Police Detective Sgt. Todd Temple said the culprits tampered with two bodies and left one corpse on the floor of the mausoleum after dragging it out of its casket.
"The body was moved from the crypt. It was laying on the ground," Temple said. "We believe three of the crypts were broken into."
The newspaper said corpses belonged to women who were born in 1833, 1868 and 1892.
"I don't know why people do what they do," said Huron County Coroner Dr. Jeffrey Harwood.
