NEWARK, Ohio, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- Investigators are trying to determine how many teenagers received nude photos that an Ohio high school student allegedly transmitted via her cell phone.
The girl, a 15-year-old at Licking Valley High School, faces juvenile charges that include illegal use of a minor in pornography and possession of a criminal device -- the cell phone, The Columbus Dispatch reports. Students who passed the photos on could also face charges.
Licking Valley Principal Wes Weaver said that the school can control the students' use of their cell phones but not how they are used. Students are allowed to bring the phones to school but must keep them turned off while they are on school property.
A prosecutor said that 13 students at another Ohio school, Mount Vernon High School in Knox County, were placed in a diversion program. They were charged after two girls sent photos -- one full-frontal and the other just breasts -- to three boys who passed them on to others.
