Poll: Obama handily won debate

NASHVILLE, Oct. 7 (UPI) -- Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama beat Republican John McCain at Tuesday night's presidential debate in Nashville, a poll indicates.

A CNN poll found overall Obama bested McCain 54 percent to 30 percent.

The candidates' second debate, held at Belmont University a month ahead of the Nov. 4 election, was a town-hall format, where Obama and McCain were asked preselected questions from the Internet and from the audience of non-committed voters.

The third and final presidential debate will be held at New York's Hofstra University Oct. 15.

The CNN poll's sample size and margin of error was not reported.
