Police: Nude pics of boy used to blackmail

ELGIN, Ill., Oct. 7 (UPI) -- Police said an Elgin, Ill., woman may have used nude pictures of her daughter's 13-year-old ex-boyfriend to blackmail him into renewing the relationship.

Investigators said they began looking into the matter Aug. 21, after a couple from Sleepy Hollow, Ill., reported that their 13-year-old son had received hundreds of threatening text messages and e-mails after he and his 13-year-old girlfriend broke up, the (Arlington Heights, Ill.) Daily Herald reported Tuesday.

The couple told police the girl's mother had threatened to post nude pictures the boy had shared with her daughter on the Internet if he refused to take his ex-girlfriend back.

"It's a sad and surprising situation," Sleepy Hollow Police Chief Jim Montalbano said. "We expect charges will be filed, hopefully by next week."

Montalbano said forensics officers from other departments have been helping to sift through dozens of cell phones, computers and CDs seized from the girl's home and school.

"We've been able to freeze (phone and e-mail) accounts so nothing gets destroyed," Montalbano said. "It's going through forensics right now."
