Pa. teen bomber may have accomplices

PITTSBURGH, Oct. 7 (UPI) -- Court records indicate that a Pittsburgh-area teenager may have had accomplices in the apparent attempted bombing of his family home.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette said Tuesday that Internet and cell phone records indicated that Christopher Janney, of South Fayette Township, had been in contact with two other individuals who apparently helped him hatch the alleged scheme and also plan his getaway by Greyhound bus.

Janney, 16, had apparently been in a dispute with his grandfather and had allegedly made contact with two other youths by phone and through Janney's MySpace page.

The alleged bombing plot fizzled, however, when the homemade chlorine concussion devices planted near the heads of his sleeping family failed to go off and Janney was arrested.

Janney was being held on five counts of attempted homicide and one count each of reckless endangerment and conspiracy, the newspaper said. South Fayette police said additional arrests were possible.

WTAE-TV, Pittsburgh, said officials at his high school described him as an average student who had no past discipline problems.
