CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind., Oct. 6 (UPI) -- A freshman at Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Ind., was found dead in his Delta Tau Delta fraternity house fraternity house, officials said.

Johnny D. Smith, 18, of Tucson died sometime late Saturday or early Sunday and was never transported to a hospital, The Indianapolis Star reported Monday.

He had reportedly complained to relatives that he felt pressure from other fraternity members to drink alcohol, his grandmother, Monya Ballah of Tucson, told the newspaper.

Montgomery County Coroner Darren Forman would not comment about whether alcohol was a factor in the death.

The Crawfordsville Police Department is investigating the student's death. An autopsy is tentatively scheduled for later this week.

"He was part of a brotherhood of Wabash men, and we grieve for him, his family, and his brothers at this difficult time," Wabash President Patrick White said in a statement. "Our deepest condolences go out to his family and his friends."
