EDMONTON, Alberta, Oct. 6 (UPI) -- Canadian police in Edmonton were searching Monday for a man who abducted a 7-year-old girl from a playground but dropped her off unharmed hours later.

Anastasia Whetton and her two brothers, 5 and 9, were playing near their townhouse around 11:15 a.m. Sunday when the child was taken, Edmonton police and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said.

The girl's father said the man said he had some kittens for sale and when the girl climbed in a vehicle, the man slammed the door and raced away.

A neighbor who saw the incident and described a blue Jeep Liberty, with the last three license digits of 179, the Edmonton Journal reported.

An Amber Alert was issued and media throughout Alberta broadcast descriptions of the girl and the man, said to be a balding, blond-haired man in his 20s or 30s with silver-rimmed glasses.

Shortly before 3 p.m., an hour's drive west of Edmonton in the town of Wildwood, a girl walked into a restaurant with a note reading: "Please bring me home safe," RCMP Constable Doug Lee said.

The abducted girl wasn't harmed and was returned to her mother Sunday evening, he said.
