Melamine found in Cadbury products

HONG KONG, Oct. 5 (UPI) -- Authorities in Hong Kong said Sunday two recalled products made by British confectioner Cadbury had high levels of melamine.

The industrial chemical has recently been found in Chinese-made dairy products, which have killed four children and sickened nearly 53,000 children.

Cadbury last week recalled all of its Chinese-made candy products after tests showed they contained trace amounts of melamine.

However, Hong Kong's Center for Food Safety said Cadbury Dairy Milk Cookies Chocolate and Cadbury Dairy Milk Hazelnut Chocolate had unacceptable levels of melamine, CNN reported. The sample of Cadbury Dairy Milk Hazelnut Chocolate contained melamine levels of 65 parts per million, which is more than 25 times the acceptable level set by Hong Kong's government, the U.S. network said.

Cadbury products manufactured at its Beijing plant are mostly exported to Taiwan and Hong Kong. Just one product, the Cadbury Eclair, is exported to Australia, Nauru and Christmas Island, the company said.
