ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, Oct. 2 (UPI) -- A suicide bomber targeted the home of a provincial party leader in Pakistan's North West Frontier Province, killing four people Thursday, police said.
The attacker was reportedly targeting Asfandyar Wali Khan, chief of the Awami National Party and a national assembly senator, on the second day of the Eid al Fitr holiday during a gathering at his home in Charsada, near Peshawar, CNN reported.
The alleged attacker was wounded when he tried to cross police lines to get close to Khan, police said. Despite his wounds, the attacker detonated his explosives, killing two police officers, one of Khan's security guards and one of Khan's friends who was at the celebration.
Seven others including security personnel and civilians were reported injured, CNN said.
