BOSTON, Oct. 1 (UPI) -- The family of a woman killed in Boston's 2006 Big Dig ceiling collapse will get a total of $28.1 million to settle their case, their attorneys said Tuesday.
The family of Milena Del Valle, 38, of Jamaica Plain, Mass., accepted $18.1 million from construction contractor Modern Continental, project manager Bechtel/Parsons Brinckerhoff, six smaller firms and the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority, The Boston Globe reported. The family previously settled with two other defendants for $10 million, the newspaper said.
Del Valle, a mother of three, died and her husband was hurt when concrete sections of the tunnel fell on her car.
"Our hearts still ache for our mother, and always will, but we find peace in knowing that she is with God, and that we have honored her life and her memory by seeking the truth,'" Del Valle's three children said in a statement.
Under the agreement, the defendants did not admit any liability.
