QUEBEC CITY, Sept. 30 (UPI) -- French first lady and former supermodel Carla Bruni will likely join husband President Nicolas Sarkozy on a Quebec visit, government sources said.

Sarkozy is scheduled to attend the annual Canada-European Union summit in Montreal Oct. 17 and the Summit of La Francophonie -- an organization of about 50 French-speaking countries -- in Quebec City Oct. 18.

The Quebec Department of International Relations refused to confirm Bruni's visit, first reported by Quebec City newspaper Le Soleil Tuesday.

The newspaper quoted one of its government sources as saying "nothing is nailed down yet."

But the newspaper observed heads of state, journalists and paparazzi would all "be quite content" by her first Quebec visit.

Bruni visited New York with Sarkozy last week, meeting for with U.S. first lady Laura Bush at a White House Symposium on Advancing Global Literacy luncheon at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and attending a U.N. General Assembly meeting with her husband.

She also participated in a meeting on poverty and female mortality with Queen Rania, wife of King Abdullah II of Jordan, and Wendi Murdoch, wife of News Corp. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Rupert Murdoch.
