LUSBY, Md., Sept. 29 (UPI) -- Police say a Lusby, Md., woman was arrested after authorities allegedly found the bodies of two girls in a drop-in freezer in the woman's home.
Renee Bowman, 43, allegedly told police the bodies frozen in a block of ice were two of three daughters she had adopted, The Washington Post reported Monday.
The third daughter, age 7, remained hospitalized Monday after apparently jumping from a second-story window of the home Friday and being found by neighbors, who said she was badly bruised, the Post reported.
Police said they found the bodies in the freezer Saturday while searching the home for evidence in the beating.
Bowman allegedly confessed to beating the 7-year-old with a hard-heeled shoe and said the bodies had been in the freezer for at least seven months, the Post reported.
"You think you've seen it all, but you haven't," Calvert County Sheriff Mike Evans said at a news conference Monday.
