PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 26 (UPI) -- Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin was greeted Friday in Philadelphia by pro-Obama demonstrators and a friendly crowd at a fundraiser.
The Alaska governor was at the Irish Pub on historic Rittenhouse Square for a pre-debate party, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.
Several hundred people packed the bar. They chanted "Sarah, Sarah" as Palin entered, responding to the crowd in the street chanting "Obama, Obama."
Palin spent about an hour at the pub, mostly posing for photographs with supporters and engaging in chit-chat. She made a brief -- about a minute -- speech.
"I thank you for being on the team and hopefully we can bring more people from this area on that team," Palin told the crowd. "John McCain and I will never forget who we are working for -- you, it's for you, so we love you guys, city of brotherly love!"
Palin left before the first debate began between McCain and Barack Obama.
Palin's staff said the governor took in another part of Philadelphia during the afternoon, jogging on Kelly Drive in Fairmount Park.
