Harper said "all the fundamentals of the Canadian economy are good," Canwest News Service reported Friday.

"I think we will be fine -- not great -- but we will be fine as long as we don't do stupid things," Harper was quoted as saying.

Liberal Leader Stephane Dion said Harper is pretending Canada will not be affected by economic events in the United States, saying the prime minister could be allowing Canada's economy to "hit a brick wall."
