Husband, 81, sues wife over lottery prize

WINDSOR, Ontario, Sept. 25 (UPI) -- An 81-year-old Canadian man in Windsor, Ontario, is suing his wife over a claim she stole his lottery ticket that paid out $3.5 million in April.

The suit filed by Gerald Moore alleges Patricia Moore took the ticket from his bedroom night table and gave it to her daughter from a previous marriage to cash, the Windsor Star reported.

Interviewed by the newspaper, Moore, 59, denied all the claims. "I didn't do anything wrong, my hand to almighty God," she said.

The Ontario Provincial Police and Ontario Lottery and Gaming Commission are investigating, and Gerald got a court order Friday that froze the bank accounts of his wife, her two daughters, grandson and their spouses, the Star said.

Richard Pollock, Gerald's lawyer, said his client didn't learn of his stepdaughter's win for three days when he read about it in the Windsor Star.

"Friends and family were immediately suspicious," Pollock said.

The allegations in the lawsuit have yet to be proven in court, the newspaper said.
