KABUL, Afghanistan, Sept. 24 (UPI) -- An explosion Wednesday at a police post near Kabul killed two Afghan policemen and injured a police commander, authorities said.
An ambush the previous night at the same post killed three policemen, Geo TV reported.
The report, quoting an Interior Ministry spokesman, said Kabul criminal investigation chief Alishah Paktiawal had gone to the small police post in the west of the city to investigate the overnight attack, when he was injured in the explosion.
Spokesman Zemarai Bashary said Paktiawal suffered minor injuries but two of his officers died the blast.
"As they entered the post, a bomb exploded that killed two officers and slightly injured Paktiawal," Bashary said.
In the previous night's attack, armed men stormed the post and killed three officers inside, the report said, quoting Bashary.
CNN reported the Taliban took responsibility for the first attack.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility in the Wednesday blast.
