BAGHDAD, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- At least two people died and three people were wounded Monday when a car bomb exploded in central Baghdad, the Iraqi Interior Ministry said.

The ministry spokesman said a parked car exploded in the Karrada commercial district, CNN reported. All victims were civilians.

On Sunday, U.S. military officials said an exchange of small-arms gunfire killed a U.S. soldier in Baghdad, the Kuwaiti news agency KUNA reported.

The soldier was on patrol at the time of the attack, the U.S. military said.
