London marchers protest stabbing violence

LONDON, Sept. 20 (UPI) -- Londoners marched Saturday to protest an epidemic of stabbing deaths just hours after the latest victim died from wounds received outside a nightclub.

The People's March, comprising friends and families of stabbing victims, walked a route into central London to Hyde Park, within a mile of where a man in his 20s was stabbed to death Friday night outside the Domino Club, The Times of London reported Saturday.

In Hyde Park, the marchers were to see anti-violence video messages from Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Conservative leader David Cameron along with guest speakers and live music, the Times reported.

Speakers were to include Richard Taylor, whose son, Damilola, was stabbed to death in 2000 as he walked home from school, and Sally Knox, whose son, Robert, was stabbed to death in Sidcup in May.
