Missing girl's mom faces more charges

ORLANDO, Fla., Sept. 19 (UPI) -- Prosecutors filed more theft charges Friday against the mother of a missing Florida girl.

Casey Anthony, 22, now faces a total of 13 counts involving allegedly forged checks as well as charges of endangering her 3-year-old daughter, Caylee, the Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel reports. She was re-arrested earlier this week and released after posting more bail.

Anthony reported her daughter missing in July, telling police the child was kidnapped by a babysitter. While investigators clearly suspect Caylee is dead, they have found neither the girl nor her body.

The new theft charges involve a friend who allowed Anthony to use her car while she was out of the country. The friend said that she discovered when she returned that Anthony had stolen some of her checks and forged them.

A protester outside the Orlando home where Anthony is staying with her parents got into a confrontation with members of the Guardian Angels on Thursday. The volunteer patrol group has been sending members to the area because of the tense situation between the Anthonys and the neighbors and the people gathering outside the house to accuse Casey Anthony of killing her daughter.
