Monster tornado devastates Oklahoma City area; at least 51 dead
DALLAS, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- Sheriff's deputies in Dallas have issued complaints regarding the use of a sexuality survey during a diversity course, a police spokeswoman said.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Kim Leach said some unidentified deputies taking part in the recent course argued that the true motivation behind the survey may have involved Sheriff Lupe Valdez, who is a lesbian, The Dallas Morning News said Thursday.
Other complaints alleged the survey was promoting homosexuality, the newspaper reported.
The questionnaire used in the Sept. 5 class was created by the Resource Center of Dallas as a way for the alternative sexualities group to measure people's attitudes regarding sexuality.
Among the questions on the survey were queries regarding respondent's religious concepts of homosexuality.
Despite the complaints from certain deputies, Leach told the Morning News that there was no hidden agenda behind the survey and no employees were forced to complete the optional poll.
"This is not anything that's new," she said. "No one was forced to fill it out. There was no pressure at all."
