INDIANAPOLIS, Sept. 18 (UPI) -- Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama has a narrow lead over Republican John McCain in Indiana, one poll indicates.

The Indianapolis Star-WTHR poll indicates that Obama leads McCain 47 percent to 44 percent in the Hoosier State.

The poll found that Obama has a 54 percent to 40 percent advantage in Indianapolis, but McCain leads in all

other regions of the state, The Indianapolis Star reported Thursday.

The poll of 600 likely voters statewide was conducted Sunday through Tuesday. The poll has a margin of error of 4 percentage points.

"The poll shows the race is slippery in Indiana," pollster J. Ann Selzer said, "and this is a fragile lead."
