Livni aides said negotiations were expected to begin negotiations to either form a new coalition or for the preservation of the current government, The Jerusalem Post reported Thursday.
Meir Sheetrit, one of the primary runners-up, said Kadima "should form a coalition" because failure to do so would endanger the party's existence.
Livni Thursday also phoned Labor Party Chairman Ehud Barak to discuss possible future cooperation between the parties, the Post said.
