Police nab Florida grave site robber

DUNEDIN, Fla., Sept. 17 (UPI) -- A former employee of a Florida cemetery has been charged with stealing 110 vases from the cemetery's grave sites and selling them to a scrap metal yard.

Authorities say William B. Moncalieri Jr., 29, of Palm Harbor, received $1,008 from a Clearwater, Fla., recycling company in exchange for 720 pounds of vases, The St. Petersburg Times reported Wednesday.

Moncalieri was working at the Enternal Rest Memories Park and Funeral Home in Dunedin until last February, said owners Charles Scalisi III and his wife, Tracey.

The Scalisis contacted authorities in early August after they noticed missing urns all over their 13-acre property.

Moncalieri is charged with injuring or removing monuments from a grave site, dealing in stolen property, trespassing and petty theft.

He is being held at the Pinellas County Jail in lieu of $30,500 bail
