Obama plans $39M Florida vote effort

WASHINGTON, Sept. 17 (UPI) -- The chief campaign strategist for Democratic U.S. presidential nominee Barack Obama says he's directing a $39.3 million get-out-the-vote effort in Florida.

In a video sent to Obama supporters Tuesday, campaign manager David Plouffe outlined a Florida battle plan in which Democrats plan an all-out blitz of radio and television ads, infrastructure, direct mail, staff and phonebanking, CNN reported.

Plouffe contended the election's "narrative" was again shifting Obama's way, saying, "The debate is about change, it's about the economy, these are two areas we think we can prevail in."

Plouffe also discussed how the campaign planned to follow through on a massive grassroots effort to turn out untapped Democratic voters in the traditionally Republican state, saying, "We're going to win this election block by block, precinct by precinct," CNN reported.
