TULARE, Calif., Sept. 17 (UPI) -- A man who taught generations of students at a California high school about cows was fatally gored by a bull from the school herd.

Max Corbett, 61, was attacked by the bull Sunday as he herded cows toward the milking shed on the Tulare Joint Unified High School District farm, the Los Angeles Times reported. He and his wife had gone to the farm to take care of chores like milking the cows.

Police, summoned by Mary Corbett, used a stun gun to stun the bull.

Corbett taught at the high school for 33 years. About 200 students, alumni and parents came to the farm Sunday afternoon.

Julie Locke, owner of a dairy equipment supply company, was one of Corbett's students almost 30 years ago. She said his death was especially hard on his current students.

"He was just passionate about dairy cows," she said. "He empowered you to work hard and get things done."
