RENO, Nev., Sept. 16 (UPI) -- Police say they're searching for a serial rapist stalking the University of Nevada-Reno campus whom they believe killed a 19-year-old California student.

Brianna Denison of Santa Barbara, Calif., was found slain seven months ago after being abducted from an off-campus apartment in Reno, authorities told CNN. When her body was found in field three weeks after her disappearance, next to it was underwear that belonged to another woman.

Police told the broadcaster they think the killer has a fetish of leaving underwear taken from his previous victim at the next crime scene as a sort of calling card.

Authorities say they are asking any woman who has lost a pair of black thong panties, size small, with a Pink Panther cartoon and heart design, to come forward.
