DILI, Timor-Leste, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- A strong magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck Timor-Leste Sunday, but there were no reports of damage or casualties, Indonesian seismologists said.

Jakarta officials reported the quake struck at 7 a.m., with the epicenter located about 100 miles southeast of Dili, the state-run Chinese news agency Xinhua said. Its depth was estimated at 6 miles.

The news agency said the Hong Kong Observatory had earlier reported a 6.2 magnitude earthquake hitting Timor-Leste with the epicenter initially determined to be about 360 miles south-southwest of Ambon, Indonesia.
