Obama vows responses to election attacks

DOVER, N.H., Sept. 13 (UPI) -- Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama said during a New Hampshire appearance that he will strongly respond to any upcoming political attacks.

Appearing in Dover, the U.S. senator from Illinois told assembled voters that any political attacks by Republican presidential candidate John McCain would be met with strong opposition, the Boston Herald reported Saturday.

"I guarantee we will be hitting back hard," Obama said. "We will hit back on the issues that matter to middle-class families."

Obama's strong words come after McCain's campaign camp said Obama would raise taxes if elected to the White House. The new tactics from Obama also come as polls indicate his lead over McCain has eroded considerably.

Yet the White House hopeful told the assembled crowd in a Dover community center that the remaining weeks of his presidential campaign would be based on the truth, the Herald reported.

"Our philosophy is a little different," Obama said, referring to the Republican approach. "We're going to respond with the truth."
