ORLANDO, Fla., Sept. 10 (UPI) -- An attorney representing the grandparents of missing Florida toddler Caylee Anthony says the couple believe the child is still alive.
Orlando, Fla., attorney Mark Nejame represents George and Cindy Anthony, the parents of Caylee's embattled mother, Casey Anthony. Orange County, Fla., Sheriff's investigators say they believe Caylee, missing since June, is dead. They cite evidence of a decomposing body in 22-year-old Casey Anthony's car, but no homicide charges have been filed.
Nejame told a local Orlando television station Tuesday that George and Cindy Anthony want to focus the intense media speculation surrounding the case back on a search for Caylee.
"The fact of the matter is that (Cindy Anthony) believes for whatever reasons that Caylee is still with us," Nejame told WKMG-TV, Orlando. "Other people do as well. She is not alone. In fact, when you think about it, there are still leads coming in. We've gotten two in the last several days. So, she is holding on to a grandmother's hope."
Nejame says he is also representing George Anthony in connection with a confrontation between him and protesters who have gathered regularly in front of the Anthony home.
