ATLANTA, Sept. 10 (UPI) -- The makers of the popular Crocs footwear are responsible for a young girl's accident at an Atlanta airport, a lawsuit alleges.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Wednesday the lawsuit against the Colorado-based company, Crocs, describes how a young boy identified only as "A.M." had his toes mangled in an escalator at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport allegedly due to the popular shoe brand.

Meanwhile, radio producer Belinda Skelton, thought to be the unidentified boy's mother, described to the Journal-Constitution last month how her 4-year-old son, Andrew Meyer, had been injured at the airport.

The boy's father, Clark Meyer, alleges in the federal court suit one of the Crocs his son was wearing on July 15 became trapped in the escalator, causing his foot to be partially crushed by the automated machine.

Meyer alleges in his $2 million lawsuit that the Crocs company learned of the potential dangers associated with its popular shoe brand and children in 2005, the newspaper said.

Crocs officials have denied such allegations, saying any injuries by people wearing the shoes were not to due to the footwear.
