PORTAGE LA PRAIRIE, Manitoba, Sept. 8 (UPI) -- A judge Monday postponed a hearing on whether a man accused of beheading a fellow bus passenger in Canada is fit to stand trial.

Judge Jean McBride of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, Provincial Court agreed to postpone the hearing until Oct. 6 to give a psychiatrist examining Vince Weiguang Li more time to complete his evaluation.

Li, 40, a Chinese immigrant, is charged with second-degree murder in the beheading and cannibalizing of 22-year-old carnival worker Tim McLean, who was on his way home in a Greyhound bus to Winnipeg, Manitoba, from Edmonton, Alberta, July 30.

He has not yet entered plea.

Li's two lawyers told the court Li was still undergoing a court-ordered 30-day assessment, the (Portage la Prairie) Daily Graphic reported.

Li also has switched doctors, the lawyers said.

Prosecutor Joyce Dalmyn told the court Li was cooperating with the new doctor and said the Crown supported the postponement.
