Suspended Nevada District Judge Elizabeth Halverson, 50, allegedly was assaulted Thursday night by Edward Halverson, 49, who remains jailed on charges of attempted murder, battery with substantial bodily harm and battery with a deadly weapon, the Las Vegas Review Journal reported Sunday.
Police reportedly received a call from Elizabeth Halverson at 10:50 p.m. Thursday claiming her husband, who has a long criminal history, was beating her and had threatened to kill her.
A friend, Bobbi Tackett, who visited Elizabeth Halverson at the hospital Friday said "She's in terrible pain. ... She's hurt very, very badly."
Tackett described Halverson as having had surgery for skull fractures, with a tube draining blood out of her head and her eyes swollen shut from bruises.
Halverson was suspended in July 2007 and lost her bid for re-election as a judge this year. She still faces Nevada Judicial Discipline Commission complaints of mistreatment of staff, sleeping on the bench and improper communications with jurors.
