Quoting a journalist based in the Pakistani tribal region of North Waziristan, The New York Times (NYSE:NYT) reported Saturday that residents of Al Must, Afghanistan, say missiles fired Friday from a drone aircraft killed six to 12 men of Arab descent.

The missile attack came just days after U.S. Special Forces launched a cross-border raid into South Waziristan that killed at least 20 people in the Angoor Adda area and was broadly criticized in the Pakistani press.

Analysts told the Times that raid appeared to show the United States is intent on curbing the inflow of Taliban militants from Pakistan's lawless tribal areas into Afghanistan, where they are targeting civilians, Afghan government police and NATO coalition forces.
