NEW YORK, Sept. 5 (UPI) -- Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin bounced around from college to college six times in six years, her biography "Sarah" indicates.

The first was the University of Hawaii at Hilo, where she and three friends enrolled in 1982 after graduating from Wasilla (Alaska) High School, the New York Daily News reported Friday.

After three weeks of steady rain, the teens transferred to Hawaii Pacific University in sunny Oahu, the newspaper said, but one of Palin's friends said the weather there was too nice.

"It was always 82 degrees. When Christmas comes around you want cool temperatures and a change of season," Tilly Ketchum recalled in the biography, written before GOP presidential nominee John McCain tapped the governor of Alaska as his running mate.

In the spring of 1983, Palin and Ketchum transferred to North Idaho College, where Palin attended two semesters and took communications and political science classes, Ketchum said.

Palin continued her studies in journalism and political science at the University of Idaho, where she attended from the fall of 1984 to spring 1985, the biography said.

In 1985, Palin attended Matanuska-Susitna College in Palmer, Alaska, for a semester.

She returned to the University of Idaho in 1986, earning a bachelor's degree in journalism in 1987.
